McCrossen Marketing Secures Federal Trademark for MTIN® Threat Intelligence Network, Previews Upcoming API

Registered mark covers cybersecurity incident monitoring, threat analysis, and a digital threat intelligence platform already protecting every site connected to SecurityShield™

AUSTIN, Texas — Sept. 29, 2026 — McCrossen Marketing today announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has registered MTIN® (U.S. Reg. No. 8470175), the mark for the McCrossen Threat Intelligence Network. MTIN is the company’s network-powered cyber threat intelligence service. The registration was issued to McCrossen Consulting LLC, the company behind McCrossen Marketing, in International Class 42. It comes as the company begins development of an MTIN API and a new generation of context-rich threat intelligence.

MTIN turns every connected website and server into a sensor. When a participating site detects hostile activity, such as brute-force login attempts, vulnerability probing, or abusive sign-ups, those signals flow into MTIN. There, they are analyzed across the whole network and compiled into a continuously updated threat feed that goes back to every participant. The result is shared defense: an attacker identified on one site can be blocked across the network, often before it ever reaches the other sites.

Websites protected by SecurityShield™, McCrossen Marketing’s site security service, receive the MTIN feed at no cost as part of SecurityShield’s free connected tier. The same network also protects McCrossen Marketing’s managed hosting clients and the company’s own applications and infrastructure, where MTIN has operated in production since early 2026.

The registration covers the following services, as recorded by the USPTO:

  • Monitoring of computer systems to detect cybersecurity incidents
  • Technology consultation in the field of cybersecurity
  • Computer security threat analysis for protecting data
  • Technical support, namely, monitoring technological functions of computer network systems
  • Providing a website featuring non-downloadable software for digital threat intelligence, cybersecurity threat mitigation services, and supporting databases

“Small businesses face the same automated attacks as large enterprises, without the security budgets to match. MTIN gives every connected site the benefit of what the entire network sees. Securing the federal registration protects that investment as we open MTIN to developers and partners.”

What’s next: the MTIN API and context-rich intelligence

McCrossen Marketing is developing an MTIN API that will make the network’s threat intelligence available directly to developers, hosting providers and security teams. The API is being built alongside a significant upgrade to MTIN itself. The upgrade moves beyond a simple list of blocked addresses toward context-rich intelligence: what a source did, what kind of network it came from, whether it is a verified search engine or AI crawler or an impostor, and whether activity reflects routine background scanning or a targeted attack.

Results will be delivered in structured formats designed for automated security tools and AI agents. The goal is to let systems decide, and explain, whether to block, challenge or simply watch a visitor.

MTIN will also move to a dedicated home, with public documentation and an administrative dashboard. Release dates and access details will be announced as development progresses.
